Barry Smith

Barry's upbringing was unique, having spent his early childhood in Zambia and Zimbabwe with his nomadic parents who were doing charity work. Upon returning to the Irish countryside, he discovered his passion for golf and competed at a high level until he realized at the age of 23 that he wasn't as good as he had thought and his dreams of jet setting around the world as a professional would have to be put on hold.
Following this realization, Barry embarked on a journey to Australia where he reunited with old university friends and enjoyed backpacking and working on various farms in Queensland. After settling in Sydney, he joined a Boutique Technology Recruitment agency where he spent 8 years helping the company grow from a team of 7 to 80 people by early 2023. He won numerous Top Biller awards and accolades but he thrived at working and leading from the front on every type of project.
Throughout his career, Barry has become a specialist in the Cloud and DevOps space, with a passion for serving his clients and candidates and a strong focus on delivering on his promises. His dream has always been to build a company like Nuage since he was a teenager. He wants to grow a team of specialists who are excited about life and moving the needle.
Despite his busy work schedule, Barry still finds time for his hobbies, including playing golf (even if he's not very good at it anymore), travelling, and reading. He tries to tolerate the hot Australian summers, but sometimes pretends to like them more than he actually does.
